EVERY CHILD DESERVES TO PLAY

Flatland Youth Fund is a Christian-based nonprofit dedicated to helping underserved youth in our community access sports and extracurricular activities.

We believe these opportunities shape lives — not just for a season, but for a lifetime.

Picture this: your kiddo comes home from school excited because they heard soccer signups are next week. All of their friends are playing and your son/daughter cannot wait to play.

Your stomach drops. You know you don’t have an extra $100 to sign up for soccer. You have $100 to live on until payday. So you have to choose, food or soccer, it’s a no brainer. But, it breaks your kid’s heart.

That’s where we step in. Apply. Tell us your situation. Let us know you need sign up help & cleats. If approved, we write a check to the league, send you to our community partner Play It Again Sports for cleats & your kid gets to play.

Never been you? What a blessing! But this is the story of a lot of families in the 806 area. We’re here to stand in the gap between financial barriers & kids participating.

Our Origin Story

A few months before the idea started, my wife reached out to me. She’d overheard about a student wanting to play softball, but didn’t have the means to. We budget money each month to help different people and causes like this, so we were able to help. I called the league and made a payment, earmarked for that specific kiddo. I happen to run into the director of the league a day or two later and without saying a word, she let me know it had been taken care of, and the kiddo was signed up. That’s when it dawned on me- this a need. My parents and some of my friends’ parents did this years ago when I was growing up. They helped cover tournament fees, jerseys, and numerous expenses quietly in the background to help people in our community. So, it goes back to my roots of growing up in Brownfield- a lot of good-hearted humans trying their best to take care of each other. And from there, my biggest inspiration in this life, my wife, Chastin wanting to step in and step up for those who need it. She has lived her entire life advocating for marginalized people and people groups, so we founded Flatland Youth Fund. We believe every kid deserves a chance but may not have the opportunity- so we want to step up and help as many kids as possible chase their dreams.

Rooted in Christ

As a Christ-centered organization, our work is guided by the call to love, serve, and uplift others. We believe every child reflects the image of God and deserves dignity, hope, and opportunity.
